Electromatic engineers manufactures flange-mounted brakes. These brakes are normally off type and operate on power. When the power is supplied to the stator [coil], the armature is attracted towards the asbestos-free friction linear of the brake stator that clamps the rotating component stop at once. When electric power is switched off, the unique prestressed spring pulls the armature plate back into its position and brake releases positively with no residual torque. Normally off type clutches makes operation on dc voltage. Therefore, ac to dc conversion is performed using a suitable rectifier. Switching off the brake can be on either side. Once application demands higher switching frequency/faster engagement and disengagement time, switching have to be pass on dc side. A suitable suppressor and capacitor network is given across the contractor coil to restrict the high inductive voltage/back emf. Components of these brakes consist of stator, coil, friction lining, armature plate, leaf spring, and flanged hub. These brakes have applications in textile machines, printing machines, machine tools, pick & place robots, plastic machinery, conveyors, laundry, machines, brake motors, paper machines, bottle washing machines, wire drawing machines, coil winding machines, packaging machines, etc.
